"Talk to each other.  We don't have wifi". 
This was a sign in an outdoor cafe in San Miguel de Allende, MX.  I am a former speech pathologist and because of this, I am bothered by lack of communication in contemporary culture. In my Connect/Disconnect I show the effect mobile devices have on interaction and communication between people. These paintings are based on sketches made in cafes and beaches in Mexico.  The subjects in my painting are surrounded by lush settings and yet are not reacting to these surroundings or to each other.
